Current Bridge Construction Projects


VDOT I-60

Owner: Virginia Department of Transportation

Location: Pittsylvania County, VA

The project entails diverting traffic from the existing southbound bridge and demolishing the existing northbound bridge over the Norfolk Southern Railroad on HWY 29 in Chatham, VA. The new bridge foundation will be on 12” H-piles and the substructure is cast-in-place concrete abutment and walls. The superstructure is steel girders spanning from one abutment to another.

Anticipated completion June 2017.


VDOt I-71

Owner: Virginia Department of Transportation

Location: Prince Edward County, VA

Work includes removing existing wooden trestle bridge on Rt. 619 over Saylor’s creek in Prince Edward County, VA. The new bridge foundation consists of 10” H-piles. The bridge substructure is cast-in-place concrete footing with a cast-in-place concrete abutment wall. The bridge superstructure is a prefabricated steel truss that will be built in place on the abutments.

Anticipated completion November 2016.


vdot i-85

Owner: Virginia Department of Transportation

Location: Halifax County, VA

Work includes removing existing wooden trestle bridge on Rt. 716 over the Banister River in Halifax County, VA. The new bridge foundation consists of 3 drilled shafts per abutment, 42” diameter, and approximately 40’ deep. The bridge substructure is cast-in-place concrete footing with cast-in-place concrete abutment wall. The bridge superstructure is a prefabricated steel truss that will be built in place using the existing timber bridge piers as temporary supports.

Anticipated completion November 2016.
